Track and field | Sophomore | Current Favorite Pump-Up Song: Anything by Don Toliver Tatiana potter (iota alpha-pepperdine)

When sports are your life, it can be hard to disconnect your worth from whatever it is you play. San Diegan Tatiana Potter (Iota Alpha-Pepperdine) knows this well. Growing up, she tried her hand at almost everything: swimming, lacrosse, volleyball, soccer, Taekwondo (she’s a second-degree black belt!) and, since her junior year of high school, track and field. Always one of the fastest on her team, track and field boosted her confidence to new heights. The track and field team is what brought Tatiana to Pepperdine in the first place — she had already committed before the end of her senior year of high school. She competes in the 100-, 200- and 60-meter races, as well as the 4x100m relay and occasionally the 4x400m relay. Her favorite event is the 60m. Tatiana loves the inherent challenge that comes with her sport, sharing, “I love how mentally and physically challenging my sport is. Alpha Phi has given me an outlet to socialize outside of athletics,” Tatiana says. “My Greek fam has become a huge factor in my college experience.” Still, even with life beyond the track, most of Tatiana’s days are shaped by the rhythm of practice, meets and the steady grind of competition. Her team practices Monday through Saturday, totaling over 20 hours a week. Sundays serve as Tatiana’s active recovery day, spent swimming or doing strides while allowing her body to rest and reset. All of this training and recovery prepares Tatiana and her team for the 14 meets they typically compete in throughout the year. Tatiana manages it all by mastering the art of saying no, sharing, “I say no to things that

Which female professional athlete, past or present, inspires you the most and why? I’m inspired by Sydney McLaughlin- Levrone, the American hurdler and sprinter and Olympian, for her passion for sports as well as her faith. I admire how humble and hardworking she is.
