It was a grand green time at theWee Irish Fest in Vankleek Hill, Saturday, March 14. With the party and selection of the King & Queen on Friday at theWindsor Tavern, the St. Pat’s Day parade & party on Saturday and the Irish Lunch at Beau’s Brewery on Sunday, there was a lot for everyone to see and enjoy. The parade consisted of 14 floats with parade Queen, Shelly Ryan and parade

King, Guy Laberge, both of Vankleek Hill, riding atop one of the floats. The Vankleek Hill Volunteer Firemen and the local OPP detachment supported the parade. Rose Huxted of Dalhousie, Quebec, and Double L. Farm of Fassifern shared the best float prize. Best costume prizes were awarded during the post parade party

The Best Woman’s prize was awarded to Bridget MacDonald and Best Man’s Costume was given to Garret McGillis. The Sunday Irish Lunch at Beau’s All Natural Brewery featured a great Irish stew and an assortment of Beau’s best beers. A float with council members from the Town of Hawkesbury carried four council mem- bers: Yves Paquette, Pierre Ouellet, Johanne Portelance and André Chamaillard. Mayor Gary Barton and counsellor Jacques Lacelle represented the Champlain Township with a float from the Champlain RecreationDepart- ment with Janis Renwick. Sponsors and supporters included The Windsor Tavern, and Beau’s All Natural Brewery. Acknowledgment is also given to the Champlain Township, and the help of Samme Putzel, John Dixon and Rob Rump. The parade was organized by Excellent Events.
