King's Business - 1946-12

I heard the bells, on Christmas Day, Their old, familiar carols play, And wild and sweet The words repeat Of peace on earth, good will to men. And thought how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along The unbroken song Of peace on earth, good will to men. Till ringing, singing on its way, The world revolved from day'to day, A voice, a chime, A chant sublime Of peace on earth, good will to men. Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: "God is not dead; nor doth He sleep; The wrong shall fail, The right prevail. With peace on earth, good will to men.” —Henry Wadsworth Longfellow hold and yet allow the parts to be slipped out when necessary.) Lesson: This black “D” ‘reminds me of disobedience. Paul was disobe dient to the Gospel of Christ at one time, and did all he could to discour age the Christians. However, the time came when he was changed and could say: “I was not disobedient un to the heavenly vision" (Acts 26:19). This change came when he accepted Christ. By cutting this “D” we will learn something about this change, and see what Paul became. (Cut the “D” 1% inches to the right of the left side, through the top and bottom, which will make the capitals “I” and “U.” Unfold the “O” in the back and fasten with thumbtacks on the blackboard between the "I” and “U.”) We now have I. O. U. in letters of gold. Paul was no longer disobedient. After this change in his life, he could say: "I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also” (Rom. 1:14, 15). You and I have a responsibility to tell others of Christ. If we are faith ful in telling them, we can say with Paul, “I was not disobedient.” DECEMBER, 1946
