Rugby I t would be an understatement to say that, in trying to follow the

prior to the match we all remarked that David Flatman, an OA who played for the British and Irish Lions, considers Dulwich vs Wellington as the biggest match he has ever played in, and one of his greatest victories. Walking to the old First team pitch, I imagine our feelings were much like those of Japan as they bravely entered the Brighton Community Stadium to face the mighty Springboks in the recent Rugby World Cup. The team we faced was littered with academy players from 1 to 15, with many having international caps; we couldn’t boast a single academy player. But it was a great

performance of last year’s team, the 1st XV had an enormous amount of pressure on their shoulders. However, I can say proudly that every one of us wore that Black and Blue jersey with purpose and put his body on the line. After a disappointingly slow start to the season, with a last-minute defeat to Warwick and a crushing defeat against KCS, The first half of the season saw one of the team’s most emphatic wins. But it didn’t look that way beforehand: Wellington has always been one of our biggest rivals. Throughout the week
