The Alleynian 704 2016

game, with both teams taking their turn to put points on the scoreboard. At half time we were still in the game and, evidently taking inspiration from the Flatman-era win, we managed to lift ourselves to another gear, ending the match with a 27-12 win. One of my favourite quotes from the match came from their scrum half before a lineout on their line: ‘Come on boys, they aren’t even big’. We proceeded to score from a rolling maul. It would be unfair to just to brag about beating Wellington. On the second day of the half term tournament at St Joe’s, our pool was tied up. We needed to beat Milfield, who we had already conceded to earlier that season. Clearly the underdogs, we had to win to stand a chance of making it to the final. Dulwich battled it out for twenty minutes and by the last play we were ahead, but not safe. With possession, Milfield’s ball carriers were charging at us, trying to break the line. However, our by-then weak bodies

remained strong until we forced an error and the final whistle was blown. Despite not making it to the final by a points difference of one, this was undoubtedly one of the team’s proudest moments. This season would not have been so successful without the massive work rate of everyone involved in the team, particularly our devoted coaches (I’m sure they cannot go an hour without thinking of a new fitness circuit to put us through). I have also been lucky enough to share the pitch with some outstanding players this season: Roberts, Lawes (voted Players’ Player), Bannister, Fox (second most improved), Ralphy, Gleave, de Rome Macdonald, Nasir and the Schloss-man, to name but a few of the senior boys. Another special mention should go to Cameron Henderson, who despite being ruled out for the season due to injury was still there to inspire us. Thank you all for being part of my last season in a Dulwich jersey.
