Northern Ireland
This year we focused on strengthening engagement, raising our profile and creating new opportunities for members across the North of England. We brought members together through business-focused networking with expert speakers from Sir Robert McAlpine, the Passivhaus Trust and VELUX. The North continues to enjoy a strong reputation as a trusted voice within the media. Our Director and members featured regularly across national television, newspapers and radio, including appearances
on Channel 4, The Telegraph and the Daily Mail. Members have also continued to support the FMB podcast series. Members supported Homebuilding and Renovating Shows, CTEC careers activity and the Big Construction Diversity Challenge. We engaged with Construction Alliance North, York Construction Skills Partnership, local retrofit programmes, colleges and the Lighthouse Charity, helping to raise standards and promote the value of SME builders.
Northern Ireland had a positive year, with members at the heart of our work. At the Annual General Meeting (AGM), we welcomed two new Board members and maintained a full 14-member Board. Our Licence to Build reception at Stormont brought members, policymakers and industry leaders together to promote higher standards, protect consumers and tackle rogue traders.
We continued to speak up for SME builders on defective building legislation, contracts, housing, retrofit and wider construction issues, including providing evidence to Stormont committees. By ensuring the voices of SME builders were heard within government and across the industry, we have continued to advocate for the policies and investment needed to unlock future growth and development across Northern Ireland.
