Wales
In Wales, FMB Cymru combined strong policy work with a major industry success, as R&M Williams became the first Welsh company to win the overall UK Master Builder
for Skills to a member site and responded to consultations on apprenticeship reform. We made housing a priority in the Welsh Government’s Housing Implementation Group and inputted into building safety reform that’s included in the introduction of the Building Safety (Wales) Act 2026. Our media work across Wales helped keep SME builders visible and heard across Welsh media, including appearances on BBC Cymru/Wales, ITV Wales, S4C and WalesOnline.

Ahead of the 2026 Senedd election, we launched our election manifesto at a Cardiff Bay reception and strengthened our engagement with Senedd Members and industry partners.
During National Apprenticeship Week, we welcomed the Minister
Scotland
Scotland saw strong member engagement, growing political influence and continued support for SME builders throughout the year. The Scotland Master Builder Awards in Edinburgh welcomed its largest audience yet. We also strengthened engagement through Scottish Builders’ Breakfasts in Edinburgh, Alloa and Kilmarnock, a VELUX showroom in Glenrothes visit and a networking seminar with RIAS. Working alongside the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS), we delivered a successful networking seminar that helped strengthen relationships between builders and architects.
Political engagement increased ahead of the Scottish Parliamentary elections, including our first reception at the Scottish Parliament to discuss the Scotland Builders’
Manifesto and continued conversations with MSPs.
The Scotland Director continues to contribute to several influential industry groups, including the Scottish Government's Building Standards Futures Board. We also played a role in Scotland's inaugural Construction Summit, while members helped raise the profile of the FMB through appearances on BBC Reporting Scotland and in The Scottish Sun.
