It just wasn’t meant to be for the Cornwall Black Sox, and pitcher Sergio Rodriguez who lost 10-0 to the OakvilleWhitecaps onThursday evening in the final round-robin game of the 2012 Junior Ontario Provincials baseball championship. The win gave the Whitecaps a ticket to Friday’s semifinal at Legion Park. The Black Sox were win- less coming into their final game on Thursday, but could have remained alive with a win by six runs or more. The host team opened the championships with a 10-0 loss to the Red Sox. The Black Sox looked liked they might have their first victory of the championship against the Pembroke Pirates Wednesday, but lost an 11-10 heart- breaker in extra innings after rallying from a 9-3 deficit.
