JOB DESCRIPTION PRINCIPAL SURVEYOR

Key Accountabilities

Key aspects of the role are to: • Work collaboratively with Diocesan colleagues to ensure a high-quality service delivery • Provide professional property and surveying advice to schools • Manage and coordinate the work of external consultants (For example Surveyors and Project Managers) • Produce detailed inspection reports and oversee maintenance, repair and improvement schemes, as necessary • Build up and communicate a thorough knowledge of all legislation and guidelines affecting Diocesan schools, with particular attention to grant funding • Assisting schools and monitoring compliance across the schools • Work with consultants and the Diocese SCA (School Condition Allocation) Committee members, to bid for grant funding and advise on appropriate distribution of funds to school projects • Attend meetings and conferences and cascade as appropriate to ensure the Diocese are following best practice with regards to property and SCA funding • Facilitate occasional training for governors, head teachers, and school building committees on property matters • General professional and surveying work as required Inspection, Surveying and Works • Building inspections and survey of property and premises, recording findings and advising Line Manager and other Heads of Departments of findings and required actions as appropriate
