April 2022 TPT Member Magazine

A NOTE FROM SYLVIA

With spring comes the promise of new beginnings: Green buds appear on trees, vegetable plots are seeded by ambitious gardeners, animal babies abound, and the cycle of life starts anew. At TPT, we’re excited to announce our own brand-new multiplatform addition this spring: Minnesota Outdoors. We launch this new initiative by introducing Outside Chance , a web series featuring beloved, heart-pounding and in some cases, unconventional Minnesota outdoor activities hosted by yogi, emcee, rapper and outdoor enthusiast Chance York. This summer, we will premiere the TPT-produced national PBS television series America Outdoors with Baratunde Thurston , who travels the country to reveal a deeper understanding of our passionate, yet complicated, relationship with the outdoors. We are thrilled to share these programs with all Minnesotans, so we can better understand the outdoors through a variety of perspectives. Discover more on pages 20 and 21 and on tpt.org/minnesotaoutdoors . This month also brings good news for our Ken Burns enthusiasts with the release of the much anticipated series on Benjamin Franklin, premiering on TPT 2 Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m. The new series explores the revolutionary life of one of the 18th Century’s most consequential and compelling personalities, whose work and words unlocked the mystery of electricity and helped create the United States. April is a month of significant religious observation, and as I write this note in early March I can only hope that we all take time to reflect on what is essential for our families and friends, our communities and our world. Take a walk, hug a loved one, read a good book, go outside and tune in to incredible TPT programming.

As always, thank you for your support.

Best Regards, Sylvia Strobel President and CEO, Twin Cities PBS
