Un seul rêve. Un monde d’espoir En 1977, Terry Fox reçut un diagnostic de sarcome ostéogénique (cancer des os) de la jambe droite. Subséquemment, il fallut amputer sa jambe à 15 centimètres (six pouces) au-dessus du genou. Pendant son séjour à l’hôpital, Terry fut tellement bouleversé par la souffrance des autres patients atteints de cancer qu’il décida de traverser le Canada à la course pour recueillir des fonds pour la recherche sur le cancer. Il intitula ce périple le Marathon de l’espoir.
