WHO IS JABARI? • 43-year resident of Westside, 38-year resident of Washington Park • Raised by single mother in public housing, went on to earn Ph.D. at 27 from Emory University, later becoming one of 22 state college presidents • Married to educator, Nisha, with 2 daughters • Daughters are native Atlantans, born and raised on Westside, one is first time homeowner in Washington Park • Professor at Clark Atlanta University and Georgia Tech • Deputy Chief Operating Ocer over Development for DeKalb County • Twice elected member of Atlanta City Council, District 3

• Author of First Source Jobs Policy that created thousands of jobs for Atlanta residents • Created $10 million ($21 million today’s value) Dome Stadium trust fund for aordable housing in Vine City and English Avenue • Spearheaded and approved funding for land purchase for historic Westside Village • Supported and voted for Westside TAD • Improved, graduation, retention and job placement rates for thousands of students; Oversaw the largest GED program in the state (4000) • Worked with Corp of Engineers to purchase homes in flood plane and relocate residents in Hollowell Parkway communities • Infrastructure improvements for Holly Road area • Strongly pushed for legislation to protect and preserve historic neighborhoods • Created community technology centers program for 25,000 residents • Authored and passed legislation to crackdown on overgrown and vacant lots violations • Authored and passed sweeping Ethics Legislation WHAT HAS JABARI DONE?
