This vision extends to sustainability initiatives, including streambank restoration and stormwater management solutions that leverage natural features like beaver dams. “We were recently hit by tornadoes that took out thousands of trees,” she recalls, “so we’re conducting a tree canopy analysis and planning reforestation initiatives to ensure Bentonville stays lush and green.” The city’s designation as a Tree City USA demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship. Innovation in Urban Development As Bentonville grows, it remains at the forefront of innovation, using its rapid development as a platform to showcase new ideas in architecture and sustainability.

“We have what we think is the world’s only bikeable building called the Ledger,” Mayor Orman highlights. “You can actually bike up the side of it.” This building exemplifies the city’s ability to merge creativity with practical infrastructure, fostering spaces that reflect Bentonville’s commitment to unique and functional design. Beyond architecture, Bentonville is pushing the boundaries of sustainable design and community engagement. The city’s infrastructure plans prioritize inclusive transportation, with dedicated bike and pedestrian paths built alongside new arterial roads. This thoughtful approach is backed by a bond extension passed in 2021 that allocated $173 million for road improvements and connectivity projects. “Our master street plan combines bike, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic in a comprehensive way,” Orman notes.
