John’s Aunt Alberta’s Thanksgiving Orange- Cranberry Torte
INGREDIENTS
• 2 1/2 cup unbleached all-purpose flour • 1 cup sugar • 1/4 tsp salt • 1 tsp baking powder • 1 tsp baking soda • 1 cup walnuts, chopped • 1 cup dates, diced • 1 cup fresh cranberries, rinsed and picked over • Zest of two oranges • 2 large eggs
DIRECTIONS • 1 cup buttermilk • 3/4 cup canola oil Glaze: • 1 cup orange juice • 1 cup sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a Bundt pan. 2. Mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, walnuts, dates, cranberries, and orange zest. 3. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, and oil. 4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and combine well. 5. Bake 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. 6. While the cake bakes, combine orange juice and sugar for glaze in a small saucepan and heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. 7. Cool cake on a rack for 10 minutes. Turn cake onto a cooling rack set over a lined baking sheet. Pour the glaze over the cake repeatedly until mostly absorbed.
