The RocklandNationals Junior A team lost last weekend against the Carleton Place Canadians, in a tight match that ended in a shootout. The Nats opened the score on Sunday, December 10, during an away game against the Carleton Place Canadians. Nats’ Connor Beatty scored late in the first period to give the Nats an edge over the Canadians. His teammates Cameron Scrivens and Trevor Coykendall assisted the goal. The Canadians responded by scoring two goals in the second period. James Lister opened the scoring for his team, while Sam Allison then gave the Canadians the lead. Trevor Coykendall saved the day in the third period by tying up the game for the Nats with barely threeminutes left, with a power play goal. Aidan Graham and Shawn Kennedy assisted. The teams were then brought to a shoo- tout after fiveminutes of overtime, the game still all tied up. Benjamin Pruneau, Shawn Kennedy and Trevor Coykendall were the three shooters for the Nats, but none were able to get past Canadians’ goaltender Jeremie Forget. Peyton Francis gave the Canadians their first shootout miss, but all Carleton needed was Ben Tupker’s goal to seal the game. The goalies stole the show, though. Nats’ goaltender Sean Storr was named second star of the game for 30 saves out of 32 shots, while Canadians’ Jeremie Forget earned the first star of the game for his 26 saves and perfect shootout. Ben Tupker was the third star for his winning shootout goal. The Nats will have a chance for redemp- tion on Friday, December 15, as they re- match the Carleton Place Canadians, this time at home at the CIHArena. The Nats will then take on the Kanata Lasers on Sunday, December 17 at the CIH Arena.
