Swedish label converter LariTryck AB invested heavily at the recent Mark Andy Open House in War- saw, Poland. Looking to add to its existing flexo ca- pacity, which already includes three Mark Andy Performance Series P7 and two 2200 presses located at plants in Nässjö and Bjuv, the company placed an order for a fourth P7, this time one of the second generation presses with an enhanced platform to be more responsive and productive. The company also placed an order for a new Mark Andy Digital Series inkjet hybrid press platform. “The Mark Andy P7 presses have allowed us to grow our business year on year by 15 percent so we urgent- ly need extra flexo capacity,” said CEO Johan Ripa. The servo-driven P7 is Mark Andy’s top-of-the-range flexo press, and the 6-color UV machine ordered by LariTryck has a 430mm web width and will be fitted with a corona treater and web cleaner, chill drums for handling unsupported films, delam/relam, cold foil, and Mark Andy’s award-winning QCDC (Quick Change Die Cut) system. It is due for delivery this month and had only an eight-week lead time from order placement. The Digital Series specification mirrors that of the demonstration machine in Warsaw, Poland, which has a 330mm web width, one flexo unit before Mark Andy’s own CMYK+White inkjet module and two flexo units after, leading to a QCDC module – the con- cept being to print and convert inline in one pass. The new BOBST THQ FlexoCloud Technology was demonstrated at an Open House in France.

Bobst THQ FlexoCloud is reportedly an easy-to-use flexo solution for corrugated board.According to the manufacturer, there is no need for special skills and this technology requires only three key elements: THQ ceramic rolls (supplied by Bobst); THQ CMYK inks plus varnish for high graphic jobs (supplied by Siegwerk exclusively to THQ FlexoCloud customers); and THQ printing plates (supplied by Graphilabel) that are the core due to a unique color separation al- gorithm. It is associated with ultra-high precision, a larger range with four colors and reportedly enables excellent anti-counterfeit security printing through invisible coded messages. Live Demonstrations Bobst ran live demonstrations at the seminar on a MASTERFLEX-XL THQ FlexoCloud. These demonstra- tions showed customers how this technology enables them to reduce ink consumption as well as number of printing plates. They discovered how to print a larger range of liners and achieve a 65 percent gamut coverage with the four process colors only.
