What’s the level of customization like for yacht owners? Do you ever create be - spoke commissions? Or customize subs to purpose? A Triton submersible is analogous to a Swiss army knife. A Triton can be configured to do whatever a client is interested in achieving. For example, if a client is interested in filming or documentation, we can and do equip the submersible with the latest technology to ensure they can accomplish these objectives. Likewise, we can equip a submersible to do marine science, archaeology, salvage or leave these features out if the intention is to simply enjoy recreational diving. What are some of the farthest-flung places you know a privately-owned submarine has dived? Our clients have dived their Triton submersibles all over the world. Places like Antarctica, the Arctic, remote locations in the Pacific, Indian and Southern Oceans and some of the world’s most beautiful, interesting and exciting places such as the Galapagos or the Great Barrier Reef. Triton subs were used to film the Giant Squid documentary in 2011, the first contem - porary dives in Antarctica, first ever dives to 1,000 meters in Antarctica not to mention the Blue Planet Series, Expedition Deep Ocean (documenting the Five Deeps Expedition, which included the deepest dives ever in all five oceans). It has been a quite a journey, particularly as people have begun to understand the potential of owning a submersible and places you can see and experience as a result. Have you heard any crazy stories about yacht owners having multiple submarines/ storing their submarines on-board in a particularly interesting way? We have seen submersibles stored in hangars, floodable compartments, inboard marinas, and out on deck. A submersible is a rugged and resilient machine capable of withstanding conditions in even the harshest environments on Earth. Submersibles are both strong and tough, which is reassuring when you consider the extreme and exciting places they can and do safely take people.
