Marlborough Street South, the municipal parking lot on Montreal Road next to the Cornwall Police station and an empty lot on Louisa Street south of Montreal Road. “This will make it easier for both business owners and residents to pitch in and clean up around their properties and neighbor- hoods,” stated Dr. Michel Dubuc, Chair of Le Village BIA. To help launch the Spring Clean-UpWeek, a kick-off event was held on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the municipal parking lot next to the Cornwall Community Police Ser- vice East End Station on Montreal Road. “We are pleased to be involved in this initiative,” said Allison St. Louis, Chair of the Downtown Cornwall BIA. “It’s encouraging to see residents, schools, businesses and community organi- zations working in unison to beautify our community.” During the kick-off event, residents and groups were able to pick up clean-up sup- plies, consisting of garbage bags and gloves for their clean-up assignments. Residents were also able to drop off their electronic waste and gently used items on site, free of charge.

CORNWALL | The City of Cornwall and Le Village and Downtown Cornwall Busi- ness Improvement Areas all joined forces during the week of May 3 to May 10 in an effort to beautify the city, during this year’s annual Spring Clean-Up. During the week, residents were encouraged to get involved in the City’s clean-up efforts by forming teams and cleaning a park, bou- levard or other public space. Teams who registered in advance had a chance to win prizes. “This is shaping up to be our big- gest clean-up event to date,” said Mayor Bob Kilger. “It’s a great way to show our community pride and make our City look even better.” With the support of Le Village and oth- ers, several garbage bins were placed in the Downtown and Le Village areas for the du- ration of the week. The locations included the former Cornwallis site on Second Street West, George Assaly Lane on Pitt Street, the entrance to the Eco Park on Race Street, the parking lot of Porter’s Restoration on

Les Patriotes de l’École secondaire catholique La Citadelle ont remporté deux mé- dailles au tournoi Franco-Ontarien qui avait lieu à Windsor les 7 au 10 mai. Les filles senior ont remporté la médaille d’or au tournoi et n’ont pas laissé leurs adversaires compter un seul but pendant toutes leurs joutes. Les garçons ont remporté une mé- daille de bronze contre l’École Sacré-Coeur de Sudbury à la suite d’une partie qui s’est terminée par le compte de 4-1. On reconnaît, à l’avant, Jo-Anne Dexter et Emi- lie Rochon; au milieu, Chantelle Saucier, Danica DeRepentigny, Caroline Plourde et, à l’arrière, Rochelle Plouffe, Hannah Veenstra, Céleste Campeau, Jenna Huot, Sarah Ouellette, Shannon Laprade, Savanna Legue, Taylor Séguin, Robyn Landriault et Émi- lie Plourde.
