BUDDING ARTISTS

Year One families were invited to an exhibition on Friday, to view the amazing work that their children had produced during our ‘Creative Day’. The hall was filled with the sounds of David Bowie. Andy Warhol artwork was shown on the big screen, musical instruments dangled proudly on the apparatus and children’s artwork was displayed around the room. Many parents took the opportunity to purchase their child’s framed artwork for a bargain price (Andy Warhol originals sell for up to £100,000,000) We are sure they will be prized possessions for years to come. A huge thank you to all of the dedicated FOA volunteers and our student teachers, who helped to set up the exhibition on the day – what a brilliant team. SWING LOW, SWEET CHARIOT On Wednesday 16th March, Abbey took part in the Sainsbury's school games tag rugby competition. They spent the morning practising their skills and participating in a few practice matches. After lunch the competition began with 16 schools competing across 4 groups. The Abbey team beat all of the teams in their group emphatically to finish top and progress to the semi-finals. They were then drawn against Uplands Manor who were set to be tough opposition. The team rallied after going behind and fought back to win the game and advance to the final. The stage was set for a repeat of the 2016 competition where it was once again Abbey vs St Paul’s. In a very well contested final, Abbey emerged victorious and were Tag Rugby Winners for the second year running. The team now go through to represent Sandwell in the next round. Well Done!
