Links with the College The main links come about through the good offices of the Master and active participation at the Club of Dr Andrew Storey (Director of ITT), with the interests of the Club always under the watchful eye of Chris Field. This liaison with the College readily provides practical help when called for. As well as encouraging contact between members of the College with members of the Club, it is to be hoped that the Hollington may become one of the beneficiaries of the school’s charitable giving. Strength of DCM Trust Our strength lies in the freehold ownership of the Club premises in Camberwell and investments built up originally from the School Mission collections and OA donations. This has enabled DCM to pay regular grants to the Hollington of some £72,000 per annum out of dividend income, donations and the sale of some investments. Over the years, DCM has, with skilful fund management under the eye of Peter Franklin (46-50) and Ted Swaysland (44-48), up to now succeeded in maintaining its capital base. This, despite actual annual income from all sources (£31,000 in the year under review) falling short of the grants to the Hollington, which have amounted over the past five years to some £360,000. The shortfall, involving drawing down £210,000 of capital over these years, emphasises the continuing need of voluntary donations, which are greatly appreciated. The Hollington also energetically seeks to promote its own independent funding (some £48,508 in the past year) in order to maintain and extend its activities. Tributes We record our thanks to all the dedicated staff at the Club under the skilful leadership of SJ and to the directors of both Charities for their time and valued support. I took over from John Newth as Chairman at the AGM on 28th October last year. We owe John a huge debt for his work as Chair over the last 10 years.

into their university lodge and would like to become members of the OA Lodge. Both are equally welcome. Sadly, of course, we lose members and this year we have to report the deaths of two members, W Bro Peter Steele, who was a member for 35 years, and W Bro Dr Andrew Nash, who had joined the Lodge in 2010, having retired after a career as a GP in Bristol. We miss them both.

Chairman’s Statement The riots in London have focused attention on the need for young people to be supported with proper facilities where they can enjoy their time and occupy their energies. The Hollington Club, founded over 100 years ago as the School Mission, helps young people in just such a way. Here, in a sensitive part of south- east London, is a club with good premises, responsible leadership, a friendly environment and practical guidance. Open to all young people, it richly deserves the continued support of the College and Trust. All money donated goes for the benefit of the Club. Report from the Hollington Club It is a pleasure to report that despite the economic difficulties, the Club has continued to thrive. It has supported the community of Camberwell and surrounding areas by providing a space for young people aged 8 to 25 to enjoy a positive programme, including access to sports and leisure activities in the evenings. Numbers attending our varied sessions have increased steadily and we had record attendances in November 2011, when the total number of attendees was 402 – an average of 19 per session and a huge increase on numbers a few years ago. Recent achievements include: a stall at the school on Founder’s Day; winning all three ages at an inter youth centre 5-a-side football tournament; mosaics and healthy living workshops; and day trips to Greenwich Park with a ride on a London river boat – for many this was their first time going outside the borough. The Club continues to be greatly indebted to the DCM Hollington Trust, The Rank Foundation and Dulwich College. Club Chairman Patrick Jones (52-61) and ‘SJ’ (Miss SJ Mackintosh), the Club Leader:
