Committed to Christ in Time No act of committal can be a once for all process; it must be done moment by moment. We cannot give to Him the years that are to come until they ar rive. A look at this can save the Chris tian from a lot of hypocrisy. If I am giving God my life, I am giving Him my minutes, hours, days, and years. I cannot live my life in a monastery and God does not want that. But if I have the right attitude I can make even my secular duties to benefit the Kingdom of God. But further than this, I must be willing to serve Him through the church by being present at her service of worship and taking a full part in her program regardless of the cost to my self. In some of our cases this may in volve giving the whole of our time as a vocation as minister or missionary. In every case it will mean at least the willingness to do this. It will also in volve the taking of some time every day without fail for private devotions. Committed to Christ in Possessions We cannot give ourselves in complete surrender to Christ unless we give Him the pocketbook too. The Christian atti tude to wealth is poverty in spirit, that is, being poor in the attitude of the mind. This will occur when the Chris tian regards everything that he has as belonging to God and himself merely as the trustee. God will not deny that much of a person’s possessions be spent in supplying the material needs of the body but it will involve that the interest of the Kingdom of God be kept in mind as a primary cause. The best way to keep this attitude of mind is by means of the tithe in which the Christian gives at least one tenth to the work of God as a recurring symbol that everything belongs to God. If every Christian meas ured up to this standard there would be no financial needs within the local church or in the denominational mis sionary program. Does your Christian ity mean this much to you? QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION How can one’s daily tasks help the Kingdom of God? What services of the church should be a must for the surrendered Christian? How can one tell whether one is called to a full time vocation within the church? If the tithe is a minimum, how should one determine the size of one’s offer ings? * * -K A Place For Your Tithe If you desire to cheer the hearts of missionaries, why not contribute to our FREE FUND in order that we may send subscriptions without charge to some of these who labor in remote spots of the earth?
