Constantia Flexibles Opens Ecoflex Plant In India Constantia Flexibles has officially opened the new Constantia Ecoflex plant in Ahmedabad, India, which will be focused on sustainable flexible packaging. More than 300 guests attended the grand opening of the new plant, including the Austrian ambassador to India Brigitte Öppinger-Walchshofer and RS Sodhi, Managing Director of Amul industries and expert in the field of sustainability. Guests also had the possibility to find out more about the new technology EcoLam. It is a lightweight mono-PE laminate suitable for a variety of packaging applications and is part of Constantia Flexibles’ prod- uct line Ecolutions.Due to its mono-material structure, EcoLam is fully recyclable, and its carbon footprint is approximately 32 percent lower than that of compa- rable products. It comes in different barrier grades to deliver the needs for a wide range of products. The Ecoflex plant has an area of 24,500 square me- ters and currently employs 50 people.The number is expected to triple by the second quarter of 2020.

Coca-Cola and its strategic bottling partners have an- nounced that they will begin rolling out a new packag- ing solution on multi-pack cans across Europe. The company argues that this move, reportedly representing a first for the non-alcohol ready-to-drink (NARTD) industry, indicates the Coca-Cola system’s commitment to working toward its global goals for a WorldWithout Waste. The three partners have worked closely with Graph- ic Packaging International —developer of the KeelClip technology — to bring this sustainable packaging solu- tion to market.This new type of packaging aims to re- place plastic wrap while also minimizing the amount of paper/card required. As part of this initiative, Coca-Cola HBC will remove shrink wrap from all its can multi-packs in all Europe- an Union markets by the end of 2021. In total,Coca-Co- la HBC will invest 15 million euro in KeelClip and will begin the roll-out in Ireland and Poland early next year, followed by Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and Romania in 2020.All of Coca-Cola HBC’s European Union markets will have KeelClip by the end of 2021, in a move that is projected to save 2,000 tons of plastic and 3,000 tons of CO2 annually.The KeelClip will be used on all can
