SURGICAL BONE MILL DR. GILES DE QUINCEY

THE UNIQUENESS OF THE DE QUINCEY SOLUTION Double action mechanism: unique in its design, helps reduce the force required to mill the harvested autogenous bone down to the desired particle size. - The double hinge also reduces the time required for milling and in the case the surgeon is milling him - or herself the tremor caused by the physical exertion is also significantly reduced. - The bone mill has furthermore been designed to be optimally cleansable without any nooks and crannies.

MAIN POINTS OF PERFORMANCE • Highly polished stainless steel components, extremely durable moving parts.

• Reliable Hu-Friedy quality and a design made with infection control and easy cleaning in mind. • The double action mechanism is intuitive in its handling, maintaining haptic feedback at all times.

COMPONENTS LEGEND

WHY A BONE MILL? Harvesting autogenous bone can be performed in many different ways , a number of studies show that bone sludge collected with a bone-trap may harbour bacteria from the saliva and also retains less osteogenic potential because of the increased traumatisation of the cells. Therefore harvesting autogenous bone and subsequent milling to the desired particle size is preferred. Milling the bone harvested either with a rongeur or as a block using rotating or piezo-electric instruments can require significant manual force. This can prolong the time required for milling the harvested bone to the desired particle size and can result in an increased tremor in the hands due to the exertion of force required to mill the bone to aforementioned particle size . Compounding factor in

this is that immediately after milling, the bone graft and membrane placement has to be performed at a moment during the procedure when the potential for a tremor is least favourable and not desired.
