Getting To Know The Kewanee PT &Rehab Specialists Staff! APRIL TAYLOR, PT

My name is April Taylor and I am a physical therapist at Kewanee Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists, primarily working in our Galva office. When I was in high school, I very much enjoyed anatomy and physiology. I was like many other high school students who didn’t know what they wanted to do for the rest of their lives, so I signed up for Blackhawk in hopes to figure it out the following year. In the beginning, I thought I wanted to be a chiropractor. I observed with local chiropractors and took my parents on a college visit to Palmer College of Chiropractic. I quickly learned that the chiropractic profession was not for me. Back to the drawing board! I then began observing at our local hospital. I observed physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists at work. I immediately fell in love with the physical therapy profession. I was admitted to Blackhawk College Physical Therapist Assistant Program and graduated with my Associates in Applied Science in 2001. I worked as a physical therapist assistant for three years when I decided I wanted more. Not only did I want to treat patients, but I wanted the ability to diagnose and plan the care my patients required. I went back to school and finished my Bachelor’s followed with my Doctorate in physical therapy from St. Ambrose University

in 2009. I have never regretted going back to school to pursue my passion. I love my job. I am able to treat patients from all ages with a wide variety of diagnoses. It is very rewarding to help patients achieve their goals and return to what they enjoy.
