TWO VCI STUDENTS CHARGED WITH ASSAULT According to the father, the two students who committed the assault only received two and three days of suspension. “I don’t tolerate harassment and intimi- dation” said the victim’s father.

Two 16-year-old students at Vankleek Collegiate Institute (VCI) are charged with assault after beating another student in the school hallways. The assault was caught on school came- ras on October 7, which led to police making arrests. Following the arrests, the victim received threats of violence by a private number on his phone. The victim’s father says his son was being harassed and intimidated on school property and outside of the Vankleek Collegiate Insti- tute schoolgrounds by other students since the beginning of the school year. In one case, he was allegedly threatened with a knife in one of the school’s bathrooms, which was not caught on camera. She’d also called the police to see if the ring had been reported found, and she was very appreciative to learn of Piper’s honesty. Swanson thinks the ring must have fallen off her finger when she put some candy in Piper’s Halloween candy bag. 8IBUFWFSUIFDBTF FWFSZPOFJOWPMWFE was very impressed with how Piper handled the situation. She was awarded a Positive Ticket from the OPP, and Swanson wanted to reward the family, although they graciously declined. Instead, Swanson donated $250 to the food bank in their name.
