of relationship. God becomes our Father when we accept Christ as Saviour. In giving the plan for prayer, Christ told who should be first. He said that we should pray first for three things which had to do with God: that His name should be hallowed, His kingdom should come and His will be done. Having fol lowed the first part of this plan, let us examine the rest. We may then pray for food, forgiveness and guidance. After a house has been built, does the owner live in the house or in the blue print? That seems a foolish question to ask, but we must remember that some people think they have prayed all they need to pray when they have repeated the Lord’s Prayer. We must remember that prayer is on the basis of relation ship to God as Father, that God must have first place, and that our needs must come last. O bjects: Two hearts, one made of molding clay and the other cut from a rubber sponge. Lesson: Pat and Pete are Christian boys, both having accepted Christ as Saviour. While they are brothers, still they are very different. Here they are. They are entirely different in their looks, as well as in their actions. I wish Pete could learn the lesson which Christ taught about forgiving people. When ever anyone does something unkind to Pete, it is hard for him to forgive and forget. Notice that when I scratch him, the mark of my fingernail remains. I take my finger and softly try to smooth out the scratch, but he still keeps a faint impression of it. He is like some peo ple who, when asked to forgive some one, say, “ I’ll forgive, but I’ll never forget.” This is not the kind of Chris tian that pleases Christ. Pat is entirely different from his brother. When he is scratched, he does not keep the impression at all. You can poke and hit him all you want and still he does not keep any remembrance of it. When asked to forgive someone, he says, “ Sure! It didn’t hurt much. Per haps it was as much my fault as yours.” The Christian who forgives and for gets is the one who pleases Christ most. If we forgive others, we will be obeying part of what is meant by Christ’s com mand in Matthew 7:12: “ Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them.” T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S Oct. 26, 1952 P at and P ete

letter, only to find that God’s standard has not been met. Learning, baptism, and church membership are commend able in their proper place, but they never can save us, and cause us to reach “ GOD’S PERFECT STANDARD.” The Sermon on the Mount begins with, “ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their’s is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:3). The word blessed means happy, and it is used several times in the Sermon on the Mount. This Sermon on the Mount was given to show God’s perfect standard for man, but no one has ever been able to reach that stand ard apart from Christ. We will place this large cross, repre senting Christ, in front of the yard stick. It reaches “ GOD’S PERFECT STANDARD.” Christ is the only man who ever measured up to the1 perfect standard of God. Inasmuch as Christ has reached this standard, He desires, by His death, to lift others to that standard. (Place the men in a pocket behind the cross and near to the top, so that they will reach the top.) Now that these men have accepted Christ as their Saviour, they are lifted in Christ to where they reach “ GOD’S PERFECT STANDARD.” We are only able to live up to the Sermon on the Mount as we are new creatures in Christ, and by His grace, are able to do the will of God. Oct. 19, 1952 T he W ay to P ray Object: A blueprint used in the con struction of a house. Lesson: Here is a blueprint which shows how a lovely home should be built. If your father intended to build a house, he would secure a blueprint, showing exactly how it should be built. People need plans for other things than houses. Especially do they need plans for prayer. One day the Lord Jesus Christ talked to His disciples about prayer. He said, “ When thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they ~iay be seen of men” (Matt. 6:5). Evi dently they were proud of their prayers. Of them Jesus said, “ For they think they shall be heard for their much speaking” (Matt. 6:7). In order that we might know the right way to pray Christ gave us a plan. He said, first of all, “ Our Father,” showing us that prayer is on the basis
