This study seeks to find out how these three international broadcasters carry out their coverage of conflicts around the world, those led by social movements, which commonly use social media networks to organize and communicate their messages. Combining qualitative research techniques and using content analysis methodology and semi- structured interviews with journalists from these three news networks, the researcher analyzed three of the most outstanding conflicts in recent years. These conflicts are respectively, the Arab Spring in Egypt that started in 2011, the Maidan revolt in Ukraine during the year 2013, and the popular protests against Maduro that took place in Venezuela in 2017. Prior to investigating these events and analyzing the content of media coverage provided by the three selected channels, the researcher tested his hypothesis by looking at the role of social media as a source of news in TV3’s coverage of Egypt.
