Name: Miguel González Santos Title:EduCARE ModelforAnalysis, Diagnosis and Evaluation of the Impact of Audiovisual Content on Human Values (A Comparison between TVE 24, CNN and Al Jazeera) Institution: Universidad Complutense de Madrid Country: Spain Date: 2019 Language: Spanish Abstract: This research examines personal values and value systems of business and communication students in Spain and compares the results with those obtained in Portugal, Brazil, Northern Macedonia and India. These values are also explored in the news programmes of 24 Hours Channel (in Spain), CNN (in India) and Al Jazeera (in Thailand). The content analysis of these programmes enhance the diagnosis of our audiovisual ethics culture, which is in current debate regarding its apparent decline. The conclusions obtained require the proposition of EduCARE educational model as one of the possible corrective measures to improve positive human values against possible non-positive audiovisual media effects in these programmes. The study verified, with interviewees, the perception of a shared responsibility between television channels for the deterioration of social behaviors. The research sample analyzed in this study consists of groups of students, selected according to gender, age and origin. Although there are few differences between the Spanish, Portuguese and Macedonian respondents by gender, the findings show less agreement in the scale of values among students of India and Brazil, as well as divergences in their value systems.
