Situated within media impact studies and based on news content analysis, the research is an ethnographic approach on Aljazeera with thematic analysis of its news content during the Revolution. The study aims to understand the channel’s role between covering events and influencing their course. The study explores how Al Jazeera employed its wide network of staff and reporters along with its media discourse to play a significant role in the political change. The research focuses on the emotions in journalism, arguing that Al Jazeera, by satisfying the audience’s cognitive and emotional needs, was able to gain their trust over a long period, which enabled the channel to influence the shaping of their political awareness. The researcher employed semi-structured interviews and archival analysis to produce an analytical account of the channel’s coverage of the Egyptian Revolution. The research findings showed that satisfying Arab audience’s needs for knowledge and collective values enhances the media’s ability to influence people’s attitudes.
