The first chapter lays out the theoretical framework and explains the process of television news production. It also discusses the different journalistic genres and values. The second chapter surveys and maps the Arab satellite channels and the transformations taking place in Arab media. It sheds light on satellite technology and its impact on the rising phenomenon of international television as the most important product of communication technology. In this context, the study reviews the concept of ‘global village’ and the role of international media in connecting different parts of world. The reality of Arab satellite channels, as a manifestation of global satellite broadcasting is investigated in this section, showing their pros and cons, and comparing their impact to that of foreign satellite channels broadcasting to the Arab region. The third chapter consists of the empirical study, in which the researcher analyzes the structure of news produced and broadcast by Al Jazeera satellite channel, using content analysis methodology. The last part of the research draws a set of conclusions.
