To this end, this descriptive analytical study compares four news channels: Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, CNN and BBC. The comparison seeks to define the similarities and differences between the four channels in terms of topics of news coverage, forms and styles, sources used in the coverage, and news values. The search used content analysis methodology to analyze the collected data and concluded with a number of findings including the following: Regarding news sources, the study found that these channels are self-reliant, especially that they all have wide networks of reporters. With regard to the forms of news coverage, the findings showed that more than half of the news materials were covered as normal news items, followed by a report produced by the channel’s correspondent. The coverage of foreign news channels carried more news values than Arabic news channels. The statistical analysis revealed a number of differences in this respect. The findings spotted seven news values where the channels differed in terms of moral significance.
