In examining the development of the Internet and Arab electronic media, this analytical field research focuses on Al Jazeera Net, as a case study. It provides an overview of the website working practices, editorial policies, and the process of news selection and publication. The analytical part of the study analyzes the content of news concerning Libyan affairs, while the field research consists of interviews with the researcher conducted with journalists who cover these topics. The analysis covers a number of elements, including news sources of Al Jazeera Net and their impact on its reporting perspective. The research finds that Al Jazeera website relies heavily on international news sources, on top of which comes Reuters, which gives the site western reporting values. On the other hand, the findings showed that the site’s users are highly skilled in news vocabulary and they are generally English speakers, and computer- literate. In addition, it is found that there are difficulties in understanding a great deal of news terminology in Libya.
