This study examines the news coverage of the Egyptian revolution in the Arabic- language Al Jazeera and CNN channels. By analyzing the framing of their news stories, this study compares and contrasts the news coverage of Al Jazeera and CNN on the topic of the protesters, democracy, the Egyptian government, and the International community’s response to the events, and more specifically, the United States’ response. The research attempts to tackle these issues by analyzing and applying framing theory to examine how Al Jazeera and CNN portrayed and presented their stories to their respective audiences. The research findings showed that, while Al Jazeera framed the Egyptian revolution mainly from the point of view of protesters, top opposition leaders, and sympathizers with the protesters, CNN framed the Egyptian revolution mainly from the point of view of the United States government officials and allied governments.
