The research is divided into two parts: theoretical and applied. In the first part, the researcher explains the reasons for selecting the topic and the case study, as well as the reasons for Al Jazeera’s success in field reporting, which marked a significant turn in Arab media performance. In this part, the study also addresses a number of themes and definitions, including report crew, correspondents, imagery, script, interviews, segments of camera dialogue, montage etc. Drawing on his own professional experience as field reporter, the researcher uses examples from Al Jazeera satellite channel and Al Jazeera Media Training Centre. He focuses on the actual working systems and processes, starting with the Al Jazeera newsroom and the way in which it connects with correspondents in the field, showing the link between writing and imagery. In the last part, the study analyzes three samples of Al Jazeera field reports to explain how theoretical elements turn into practical reporting incorporating different parts of the process, including the technical, the artistic, and the content components.
