This research investigates the ideational meaning reflecting the interception of the ‘Mavi Marmara’ in Al Jazeera International website through transitivity analysis. It specifies the different types of processes, participants and circumstances recognized in language and the structure through which they are expressed. The study used qualitative descriptive method and focused on the transitivity content analysis. The analyzed news item and reports were selected through the purposive sampling technique, which then were classified and reduced according to the research question and literature review. The results of the research reveal that the material process dominates the process types in the news reports, which means that most of the realities found in the news reports are about actions, observable activities and visible events. The results also show that most of clauses analyzed are in the form of passive voice where the doer of the action is omitted. Meanwhile, the occurrence of circumstantial elements in the news reports reveals that the journalists tried to present credible reports by providing events and facts together with additional information in terms of circumstances concerning the Interception of the ‘Mavi Marmara’.
