It focuses on the experience of Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya as case studies. The first chapter lays out the theoretical framework and explains the research problem and its significance. The second chapter reviews the development of Arab media in recent years and their increasing influence in the region. The third chapter focuses on television news, providing information on news templates, values, sources, and other technical aspects. The fourth chapter examines Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya channels’ editorial policies and looks at the impact of political pressures on their journalistic practice and commitment to professional standards stated in their codes of ethics. The fifth chapter consists of the field study, analyzing the data collected through a survey using content analysis methodology. The study also analyzed a randomly selected sample of 60 news bulletins, 30 from each channel, and found a significant difference in the way the two channels deal with political pressures and adhere to professional standards.
