It focuses on two of the channel’s talk shows as a case study. The study begins with a detailed demonstration of Al Jazeera’s status in the region, which is reflected by the high rates of viewership as well as its ability to influence the audience. It also explains how Al Jazeera follows the standards of professional media practices such as impartiality, balance and honesty, while adopting a particular political agenda. On the other hand, this study demonstrates the meaning of public and official diplomacy, its characteristics and tools. It delves into the interactive relationship between media and diplomacy and sheds light on the Palestinian diplomacy and its transformations since the launch of the liberation movement until after the establishment of the Palestinian authority. To investigate the relationship between Al Jazeera and the Palestinian diplomacy, the researcher analyzed the coverage of “Behind the News” and “the Opposite Direction” programmes of the Palestinian authority’s request to postpone the UN Security Council voting on Goldestone’s report.
