Among those channels is Al Jazeera Satellite channel, which deals with the latest Arab and international news and events, and raises issues from different points of view. The channel’s news coverage has sparked controversy in the world over the years. Al Jazeera gained worldwide attention, especially after the September 11 attacks. It was the only channel that carried live coverage of the war on Afghanistan and its coverage of the 2003 US invasion of Iraq was remarkable. Al Jazeera was also distinguished from other Arab satellite channels by presenting the ‘Maghreb harvest’ bulletin that deals specifically with the news of North African countries. The channel’s special interest in the Maghreb region drew the attention of viewers in those countries to its news services. This research analyzes of the “Maghreb Harvest” bulletin on Al Jazeera satellite channel in form and content. The research also includes a field study to find out the attitudes of Libyan media professionals towards the channel’s coverage of Maghreb issues.
