The study suggests that social networks highlight the themes that constitute the media agenda, creating new streams and tensing the classical conception of the theory of ‘agenda’. Therefore, the study aims to contribute to the widening of the scope of this theory, especially in light of Maxwell McCombs’ recent updates. The study also approaches the theme of social networks from a broader perspective, exploring the concept of the ‘Network Society’, proposed by Castells. This, in turn, provides more technological themes that enhance the theoretical framework and approximate the field of communication and this research area in particular. In addition, the study investigates the geopolitical context in which the Arab spring took place, along with the accompanying social developments and the impact of this movement on other parts of the world where similar events started to be seen. This exploration is anchored in content analysis of the data collected from Al Jazeera, focusing specifically on its coverage of the Arab Spring in Egypt.
