This comparative study focuses specifically on the cases of the BBC, France24, CNN and Al Jazeera English. The timeframe of this study covers the period between January 2011 and July 2013. During this period, Egypt witnessed two major events characterized with popular uprisings. The first was the 2011 revolution as part of the Arab spring movement, which toppled the Mubarak regime. The second event was the 2013 uprising, which led to the military coup and the ousted of President Morsi. Both events were widely covered by international media, and foreign correspondents played an important role in reporting them. Besides traditional news sources, social media contributed a great deal in informing the public and helping foreign correspondents in their media coverage. The research looks at the way foreign correspondents used social media as a source of information and how this usage affected the news they produced. The researcher employed qualitative methodology along with content analysis. Regarding data collection, a number of in- depth interviews were conducted.
