The study aims investigates the opinions of the political elite in the Gaza Strip regarding Al Jazeera’s coverage of the Arab revolutions. It also seeks to identify the role the channel played in these events and the contribution it made towards their success. It looks specifically at the kind of support the media coverage gave to protesters during the uprisings and the respondents’ recommendations in this regard. The study adopted a descriptive approach and analyzed the coverage of Al Jazeera for the Arab revolutions using the survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to a selected sample of 100 respondents. In addition, the researcher conducted a number of interviews with members the political elite in the Gaza Strip. The research findings showed that the respondents agreed on the fact that Al Jazeera played a pivotal role in the Arab spring revolutions and that its continuous field coverage had an important impact on the way these events developed and sustained. The analysis also found that respondents believe that Al Jazeera’s coverage of the Arab spring was guided by a political agenda beyond the professional standards.
