It also seeks to know their assessment of the channel’s media coverage of such events. In this study, the researcher used the survey method and the questionnaire tool on a random sample of 400 Jordanian male and female journalists working in various Jordanian governmental and private media institutions. The findings showed that Jordanian journalists working in private institutions relied on Al Jazeera more than did their counterparts working in government media institutions. The dependence of the first category reached 77.5% compared to 48.1% for journalists in the government sector. The respondents explained this high rated dependence by fact that Al Jazeera reports events as they occur, accompany its news coverage with analysis, and covers all sides of the story freely. The findings also indicated that Al Jazeera enjoys high credibility from the point of view of Jordanian journalists, and its news reporting is characterized by accurate information, in-depth coverage, and comprehensive approach.
