This study focuses on CNN and Al Jazeera channels, which both became famous during wartime, in order to identify the similarities and differences between their reporting. The study analyzes the reporting tendencies of these two networks in different countries and looks at their relationship with their governments and their audiences worldwide. First, the researcher reviews the history of CNN and Al Jazeera to find out how war coverage contributed to making them famous and triggering competition between them. He then identifies the main characteristics of the ways in which they report wars, especially that all countries during war tighten their control over the media, while governments and military forces act as gatekeepers. Despite their global operations, the channels’ social environments, ideological tendencies, and specific cultural values influences their news reporting of wars. The findings show that both media outlets are used by their corresponding governments as effective tools to promote their views on global affairs.
