The study covers the period from 30 September 2015 to 15 March 2016. The research focuses on “Behind the News” programme from Al Jazeera and “Ask More” from Russia today. The comparison aims to identify the news frames used in both programmes and understand how the two channels handled the coverage of the Russian campaign in Syria. The study employed descriptive methodology and used content analysis to find out the differences and similarities in the coverage of these programmes. The findings showed that the airtime given to the Russian military campaign in Syria was quite similar in the two channels, with a ratio of 10.24% in Al Jazeera and 9.64% in Russia Today. While Al Jazeera focused on the human side of the campaign with 43.87% of its coverage, Russia Today focused on the political frame with 58.46% of its total coverage. The study also found that the direction of Al Jazeera’s coverage was generally opposed to the campaign, while Russia Today’s coverage was generally supportive.
