It also looks at the differences and similarities of the two media in terms of strategies of representation at the level of words, clauses, discourses and social structures. The study uses descriptive and interpretative methodology in explaining and analyzing the data collected from AJA and AJE articles. At the level of word analysis, AJA tends to use evaluative language while AJE tends to use descriptive language in representing social actors and social events in Syrian crisis. At the level of clause analysis, AJA tends to represent unilateral actors while AJE tends to involve various parties involved in the Syrian conflict. AJA framed its discourse in a way to show Assad’s war crimes, while AJE framed it in terms of civil war, involving various parties and factors. At the level of social structure, AJA showed a partisan ideological position and aligned its representational strategy with Qatar’s foreign policy, while AJE has a non-partisan, non-ideological and impartial representation strategy.
