Two tools of data collection and analysis were used, namely observation and content analysis. The study reached a number of results, most notably that citizen journalism is an important tool that complement and support the work of television channels. The content produced by citizen journalist helps television channels improve their coverage by addressing events from different angles using materials that are not always available for professional journalists. The results also showed that Al Jazeera casts relied in its newscasts on audiovisual materials produced by citizen journalists whether as interaction with the discussed issues or in the form of video clips showing events happening in various sites. Generally, the videos posted by citizen journalists did not violate the ethical standards of journalistic practice, even though their producers are not professional individual or bodies.
