useful. Sara is also the President of "ResponderStrong", a national initiative providing online mental health and wellness support tools to emergency responders. In all her work, she is laser focused on ensuring that scientific advances in cancer prevention, cardiovascular health, behavioral health, reproductive health, sleep, nutrition, and family resilience reach the members of fire and EMS departments of all sizes - career and volunteer. Dr. Jahnke holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology (Health Emphasis) and a Master's in Counseling and Guidance, both from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. She completed a Clinical Psychology Internship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, an American Heart Association Fellowship in Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, and is a Fellow at the American College of Epidemiology. She has been recognized with the 2024 Arthur J. Glatfelter Distinguished Service Award, 2018 International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Award for Excellence in Fire Service Research, the IAFC Excellence in Research, Safety, Health & Survival Award, 2019 Endowed Lecture at the American College of Epidemiology, and the 2016 Dr. John Granito Award for Excellence in Firefighter Research. In addition to her day jobs, Sara serves on the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) Board of Directors, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), the NFPA Research Foundation, the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), the Missouri Cancer Trust, and the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN). It seems that Dr. Sara Jahnke is everywhere and involved directly or indirectly in so much of what matters most in the health, wellness, and safety of firefighters, including support for their families. No matter what's going on around us, it seems the Sara is always involved in some way and contributing to whatever cause might benefit from her
