Wendy Chang Norris
Wendy Chang Norris is an active leader in the fire service, particularly in the areas of firefighter health, wellness, and Line of Duty Death (LODD) support for firefighters and their families. She works at the state and local levels, serving in key leadership positions in Texas and within
national fire service organizations. Wendy is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Texas LODD Task Force that works in partnership with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) as the Texas Local Assistance State Team (LAST). In her role as a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains (FFC), she serves as an instructor and is a certified Master Chaplain. She is also the Founder and President of Firefighter Ministries, a non-profit organization that focuses on the spiritual and emotional needs of emergency services workers. Wendy was an industrial and volunteer firefighter in Antioch, California and Houston, Texas until she suffered an injury at a structure fire in 1997. That experience sent her fire service career in a much different direction. She currently serves as the Chaplain and Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Forest Bend Fire Department in Texas. Wendy is also presiding officer of the Governor's Advisory Panel for the Star of Texas Awards, the Texas Disaster Behavioral Health Working Group, the Texas First Responder Mental Health Consortium, and is a member and PIO with the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Safety, Health, and Survival Section. She is also a Peer Advisor for the Phoenix Burn Society, as well as an adjunct instructor and curriculum developer at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). Wendy is an advisor to
