Role Summary: To undertake a management role focused on supporting the Head of Projects with the planning, procurement and monitoring of appointments undertaken by the Projects Team. To assist the Head of Projects to ensure that implementation of the University and Estate strategies concerning the development and improvement of Keele’s Campus. Provide professional support to colleagues within the University to enable them to receive high quality guidance and support regarding the procurement of major capital projects and/or works to improve/refurbish and extension to the existing buildings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Work Processes and results • Take a lead with the development of options appraisals, and assist the Head of Projects in considering the most effective procurement routes, designs, specifications and programme to ensure the University can maximize the benefit of any investment in the capital build programme and identify where individual projects (including planned maintenance) could be aligned to bring efficiencies to programme and cost. • Responsible for the project management of a range of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner. • To be responsible for reviewing with Project Managers the implementation of the teams Quality Assurance Protocols during the life of a • Work closely with the Head of Projects to develop design guides for the University linked into the emerging campus Master-Planning. • Work closely with the Head of Projects to develop Quality Assurance procedures for the project team and introduce KPIs to monitor the performance of the project team and to implement measures to ensure the continued improvement of the team’s service delivery. • To take a lead with implementing Post Occupancy Evaluation to ensure that the outcome of the project meets the Project Sponsors/ Stakeholders requirements and to collect data on any lessons learnt and communicate these to the team. • Work closely with the Head of Projects, to actively lead the coordination of a number of strategically significant projects which are being delivered with Strategic Partners of the University. Leading meetings with the Project Managers, within the Team and the strategic partners to ensure there is appropriate coordination and communication being undertaken to minimize disruption to the wider campus community. • To take a lead with producing KPIs for the suppliers, used by the projects team, recording trends and work closely with the Head of Projects to identify improvements that suppliers need to make, to better support the University. • To take a lead on managing the regular health and safety audits of the construction sites and liaise with colleagues to record trends and work closely with Head of Projects on actions to be implemented. Review monthly with the Project Managers, their project cash flow forecasts and standard Project Managers reports to ensure accuracy prior to issuing to the Head of Projects. • To work closely with Project Managers to provide professional support where required. Customer service • To provide a high level technical and professional advisory service to Project Executive Group, ensuring that project briefs are developed to be comprehensive, cost efficient, in line with corporate standards and to meet the client specification/business plan. • To be responsible for coordinating and managing the structured decision making within the Project Management Structure and the Project Executive Group. • To monitor, evaluate and record the progress against project requirements of the Projects Team and report to the Head of Projects available options if derogations become evident. project to ensure a standardized approach to project governance is achieved and continually improved. • To take a lead role in delivering complex and critical capital projects, meeting all the required deliverables.
