• To take a lead reviewing the Project Manager’s project monitoring, update and variation reports.

Planning & Organising • To assist the Project Manager with team resource and project programming. • To assist the Head of Projects to shape the strategic direction of the major capital projects, leading options for procurement, understanding key projects risks and mitigations and phasing and programming activities. Financial Management • To manage the allocated budget effectively and control all related expenditure to ensure delivery of targets/objectives within budgets either project specific or team wide. • To contribute to the teams resource and financial planning. Communication / Documentation • To communicate effectively across a wide range of audiences. • To adhere to regulations and procedures relating to data protection and information security. • Where required to be responsible to coordinate communication needs with the Project Communication Group and the Project Executive Group. • To ensure accurate records/assessment of work in progress against the procurements critical path and ensure this is detailed in or part of the regular reports. • To be responsible of managing and coordinating regular project update reports in suitable form and detail, to support the Head of Projects overall management of the team and ensure accurate reporting to Committees and University Council. • To promote good communications with all E&D and University staff, internal and external customers. • To liaise, establish and maintain positive links with external agencies and providers. Strategic Management • To contribute to formulation of, and ensure implementation of key University E&D strategies. • To understand the wider E&D strategy and if required be a member of the Directorate’s master planning senior management team. People Management • To lead, manage and motivate the staff within the Project team. • To assist the Head of Projects to develop/improve the capability of staff to better meet the current and future requirements of the team. Personal Development / Performance • Demonstrate a commitment to continuing Personal/Professional Development. • Adhere to the University’s environmental policy and procedures and seek to promote environmental sustainability within area of responsibility. • Capability to observe and define priorities and timescales in the achievement of strategic and operational objectives, and to act on those observations in a timely and cost efficient manner.
